Called up for the England u20s

But unfortunately according to the Barnsley oracle, he isnt good enough to replace Kalvin Phillips or Eunan O'Kane who have both been in sparkling form over the last few months.

Yeah but Phillips is too old for the U20s and O'Kane is foreign so RV gets the nod ;-)

Well done to Ronaldo - called up to the England u20's

Also, well done to his brother Romario, called up by Guinea Bissau for the first time.

There is a thing on twitter.

For all the criticism of Vieira and his passing.

Outside of the cbs and Adam Forshaw and Eunan O'Kane (who only passes side ways or back)

Ronaldo Vieira has the best pass accuracy of any Leeds player.

And makes more passes per game then most. Phillips for example averages 30 passes per game which is 70% of his attempts.

Vieira averages 36 per game which is 76% of his.

MOTM today imo.

Broke up play brilliantly, was strong and combative.

And a great pass to Alioski which ended up with the 2nd goal.

Ronaldo was much better today

Pablo my MOTM, without his class & vision we wouldn't have won the game

Ronnie V for me.

Without his display we have 0 midfield and Hernandez may never have seen the ball at all.

RV would have no doubt have been left on the bench with O'Kane favoured over him if Forshaw had have been available.

Not really sure about this he hasnt played well and needs handling stuff.

According to the Man Of The Match table despite playing less games then O'Kane and Phillips by quite a distance he is about level with Phillips (with more outright MOTMs) and miles ahead of O'Kane.

“He burst onto the scene and he’s got tremendous attributes and big potential but he’s got to learn about himself and about the game, about what’s required. The pressure put on them is not necessary.

“It can be tough to handle when you’re already playing at a big club in a tough league, as a young person.

“Things like that can be handled well while still pushing him and demanding things from him. He still needs the support.”

I think Hecky is saying what many coaches/managers would say about one of their young promising players. The rest, guidance & coaching seems to have worked going on Friday's evidence.
Vieira is still learning his trade & by no means the finished article, tremendous prospect though

I`m undecided in regard to Viera...seems overhyped, but then shows some class now and then. Only time will tell I guess...a coach is required able to get the best out of (young) players, not only on matchday but also in helping them to develope their potential to the utmost. (A s**t coach in contrary can harm the developement of players.)

I do think RV is the real deal but with any young player there will be a lot of inconsistency. He has shown in the handful of excellent games that he has had that he is a very good player but sometimes you just go on to the pitch and nothing works - and it isn't for lack of trying. That is when you need a good manager to support you and help you as you develop and gain the experience. Plus he had his injuries and probably tried too hard to play through them - it sounds like it wasn't the type of injury to stop you being able to play but it was enough to stop you being at 100% and as a footballer if you are used to playing at 100% then your whole game can fall apart simply by being that split second slower, you are late in the tackle, when you pass the ball you are just that split second late in making the connection so instead of you hitting the ball sweetly on the instep you might get a bit more heel in it etc etc. But you are young, you have just broken into the team, you haven't got a more visible injury (such as a broken leg) so you are capable of playing and you want to play, so you play and don't do yourself justice.

Some interesting points...a complex situation with many influences and factors playing a role. He certainly has some potential, as clearly as he has some weaknesses, but problably our brightest prospect from the youth system since the likes of Byram, Taylor and Cook.

I think he's class and don't understand the amount of criticism he gets. He's good in the tackle, passes well, runs with the ball, closes down, and has plenty of energy. His weakness is that he's young in a physically demanding league. Give him time, real playing time. I would have played him next to Forshaw, and now with the injuries he should be automatic for the rest of the season. Batty and Speed came through and eventually got us promoted. I see RV in the same light. If w don't go up next year then he'll probably be worth a decent amount of cash.
I was there when Batty scored
