If it does, fine. Right now, I am sticking to my opinion that he doesn't know how to pick decent coaches

Dammit. I give Hockaday a compliment on his tactics in the Boro game, and this is the thanks I get. So many tactical bloopers but even a non footballing fan would have kept the striker on who nicked a last minute goal in the previous game knowing that he may be the one to do it again.

I will give managers / players / owners time provided they, at worse, to not negatively affect the potential of the club. However, I am genuinely worried Byram and Murphy, amongst others, are regressing as players (although the former may just be struggling after injury or has his head turned by a potential transfer out.) If I was going to pick 2 players out of last seasons squad who would excel in a passing team, it would have been Byram and Murphy. Surely that's a sign of concern?!

I agree mango, I was impressed with the Boro game and hoped we'd see reaffirmation today.

I said there would be a story behind Smith, Sharp and Murphy being subbed!
I know what, but not why.

Still time but reducing.

They do say one swallow doesn't make a summer.... And having got all excited that we may have found a way to gel a team together and that Hockaday possibly had some form of tactical nouse as he changed the game against Middlesborough in the second half... We seem to have drifted back to our 'default' settings tonight.

Having swung from a point of confusion and bewilderment over his appointment to a 'this might just work' attitude after Saturday - reading his post match comments tonight again have left me bemused and wondering if he's just a lower league coach who's simply 'got lucky' in landing the job at ER.

Tonight he's made points over the players looking mentally tired tonight... 3 games into the season?

Then said the ONE thing he felt we lacked tonight was pace... Well it is clear that there is more than ONE thing missing - a lack of creativity, lack of an ability to stamp out certain opposition players from running the game and simply substituting strikers for strikers when there's nothing there to provide for them isn't going to get you a result. Especially if the striker you take off happens to be a proven one at this level who might just nick you a goal...

Sure it's early days and things are going to take time to put together but having shown and displayed some character which lifted the spirits in the second half on Saturday to muster up a lacklustre display as on display tonight isn't acceptable... If you going to go down at least go down snapping at the oppositions goal - did we have ANY attempt on goal tonight once Sharp had been taken off?

Absolutely TOP post there mate! Cellino obviously wants the Prem ASAP - so why the fook did he let a conference mismanager be in charge of his new signings??? :duno:

There were a couple of chances, but nothing particularly of merit. No idea why Smith went off for Ajose at half time though - if you're going to bring on more of a winger, surely you want him to have a target in the box? Other than Smith, our forwards are pretty short. In fact, with Ajose, Poleon, Warnock and Cook on towards the end of the game we looked like boys against men!

Why? Because Hockaday was free whereas he would have had to pay £400k compensation for the Reading coach whose name I forget.

Cheap trumps good.

You'd have thought though that as Cellino has put money into improving the squad he'd have taken the same attitude with getting a decent manager. Not like we've been recruiting non league players, why bring a conference manager in? Madness. When he gets the chop I'm going to email Cellino my last Football Manager saved game, where I got Leeds promoted with 100 points and finished 5th in the Prem the season after....Job's as good as mine surely.

im not sticking up for Hock but we had a good player out through injury and a half decent player out due to a ban. I personally think Hock will be given at least 3 poor performances after the transfer window closes because at the moment Cellino is too busy doing what he likes to do and that is trying to out wit agents and get players in for as little as he can. He even has said he likes to bring players in during the transfer window and sometimes too many at times. This is why I think Hock will be given 3 poor performances with a full squad of Cellino's star buys. oops just realised this isn't the when will Hockerday be sacked thread but it seems to of merged into it :roflmao:

Not sure why The Hock is being given so much grief? So far, he's done no worse than his predecessors, who also made plenty of tactical and substitutional decisions that left us all wondering if they were really at the same match. He's gotten a whole crop of new players, trying to implement a whole different system, in addition to upping the fitness level standards of past managers. Some people today would've sacked Revie already in this age of instant gratification. Personally, I think he's done alot better given the circumstances than his pedigree would suggest he would.

LOL Rich - but totally agree with you main point. When he was announced at Leeds, Hockatwat didn't even have a wiki page and he wasn't even listed on the FA/FL site.
Shows how important he was before joining LUFC.
Certain unemployed/unhappy managers have been spotted at our games this season. Gary Mac was at ER last night.
