Re: Participating in sport
Rugby League was the first sport i played as a 5yo whilst living between Burley & Headingley
Moved to Armley as a 9yo which was more a football area, played footy until my early 20's
Cricket was another favourite sport of mine, did well at school level at footy & cricket
As teenagers we would play sport from 9am until around 9pm during the week-ends/holidays
Also use to cycle to Bolton Abbey via the Otley Chevin & Ilkley as kids, up the Chevin was a challenge especially with the heavy bikes we rode thosedays
Also played tennis but never got the hang of the game
Played alot of snooker in my mid twenties & around 10 years ago we had a snooker club within a five minute drive so played for a couple of years until the premises were sold & turned into flats
Been playing Indoor & Outdoor Bowls for about 6 years now, generally 2 or 3 times a week. Love my bowls & have been very successful over the last 3 years, i'm very competitive, always had the winning mentality

Whereabouts between Burley and Headingley, Leon? I spent a lot of my childhood on the Rosebanks, when we were home on leave from the RAF. My grandparents lived on Rosebank View.

Play rugby union to a decent level, just back from injury. Have started playing tennis recently too and I have been looking into submission wrestling in the new year and always wanted to start surfing, im a fitness instrutor too so make fitness programmes for people and teach a good few classes. Never played football though except the odd 5 a side games
I realised I was dyslexic when I went to a toga party dressed as a goat..

Re: Participating in sport
Have always played football, only play once a week now though, wish I could play more.
I used to play tennis in clubs at a competitive level, but matches are on Saturdays so its difficult to get back into it with Leeds games too. Miss playing though.

I played Rugby League till i was 20.. now I play 'Touch-Rugby' twice a week, and 5 a side football on Mondays..
I know you guys dont really have touch rugby (or we call it touch footy).. and when you try and explain it it sounds pretty queer, so heres' a youtube clip.. It's much much quicker than rugby league, so great for your fitness.. but doesnt have the body contact, which you cant really afford when you're working and trying to make a living...
We go away for state titles every year, and have now won it 5 years running...

Re: Participating in sport
Played rugby when I was younger and did a bit of kick boxing when I was in my teens. Played 5 a-side footy once a week up until about a year ago, now my job takes up too much time and I dont get to play. I want to start playing again in the New Year as Ive clapped some weight on over the last 12 months! I love playing football and would love to play rugby again, although that wont happen!
Leeds is in my blood, always will be.

Footballers spend 90 minutes pretending there injured - rugby players spend 80 minutes pretending there not!
