Re: Match Thread - WS Wanderers vs Leeds United (Sat 20th July)

Just got home from the Game and for a pre season game it was of high quality. Must give credit to the Wanderers and there fans didn't stop making noise the whole game. The Australian League is still 3 Months away so they really came to play which was always going to happen as we are a big draw card...

Re: Match Thread - WS Wanderers vs Leeds United (Sat 20th July)

The voice of reason, Moth, great post  Credit to faaip, weasel and Ges* too as beacons of positivity amongst the 'we're doomed before the season starts' brigade. Being down on the club that hard and that often must be awfully tiring. I know I'm tired reading it, might abondon the football thre...

Re: Match Thread - WS Wanderers vs Leeds United (Sat 20th July)

Can't disagree with that, he's better on the right but he put in the performances of the season as a LWB in both games v Derby I'd certainly go with Ayling & Dallas as I think both suit Bielsa's system. Just my opinion, others may prefer Berardi, Shackleton, Douglas or Alioski for the wing-back roles

Re: Match Thread - WS Wanderers vs Leeds United (Sat 20th July)

I don't think the defence is quite there but under Bielsa defence is probably much harder than the dinosaur football other teams play. Bodies behind the ball, throw yourselves at everything and then hoof clear..Haven't we just spent 15 years bemoaning hoofball.. Just think we look vulnerable especi...

Re: Match Thread - WS Wanderers vs Leeds United (Sat 20th July)

Criticism is fine as long as it's constructive and honest. There will always be people who have their favourites and don't like it if another player takes their place. We have our strengths and weaknesses and I am happy to highlight both. Some people focus on the positives some the negatives, that'...

I remember Revie's Leeds and late seventies Leeds routing teams in all but scoreline...it's nothing new with us..this should be 7 - 1 plus if we had any luck
Clarke was clinical, Jones & Lorimer knew where the net was. Billy & Johnny scored for fun from midfield

I think Dallas has to start...
Definitely

When Ayling returns move Dallas over to LB, he's better than Douglas & Alioski right now

Gandi, as from tomorrow I'm away for a couple of weekends, so won't be posting up Saturday Meeting selections.
Depends on tin'ternet service where we are as to whether I can put up NAP of The Day picks but will try to do so.
Are you going to the back of beyond Cat ?

Re: Match Thread - WS Wanderers vs Leeds United (Sat 20th July)

Agree with Moth. Bielsa's defence is attack. I expect that's why he hasn't prioritised signing or retaining defenders, and why the one new player we have looks like a ball player and a reader of the game, rather than an out and out unit. When we're on song as a team, it's devastating and sublime, w...

Re: Match Thread - WS Wanderers vs Leeds United (Sat 20th July)

 Shame about the negativity of others, almost looking for it. Sorry mate, we saw all the same problems from last season. Bielsa was visibly frustrated too! WSW finished 8th out of ten in their league last season I do think we'll go well once we can call upon the likes of Costa, Ayling, Klich &...

Re: Match Thread - WS Wanderers vs Leeds United (Sat 20th July)

There is no way we'd cope in the championship with that defence plus we still require a 25 goals a season striker

Still can't see one out there

Re: Match Thread - WS Wanderers vs Leeds United (Sat 20th July)

2-1. Pablo again the difference, Dallas did well, Bogusz did well. WSW played some nice stuff and had some chances of their own. Old issues continue to haunt us though, not clinical enough, careless on the ball in key areas and very dodgy in defence especially on the break. Bamford needs a goal fro...

Bogusz, Harrison, Berra, and Dallas have all been on top of their game, Roofe's movement and added strength is impressive, Bamford is just lacking confidence right now, playing quite well

Disappointing have been Phillips and Douglas
No mention for the classy Pablo ?
