Re: Heckingbottom has gone

Let's be honest, as soon as Heck was appointed we all knew how it was going to end. Happened sooner than l thought but that's a good thing IMO. I called for Alardyce when Everton sacked him, but I'm really not sure who l want now. Just someone get us up.....please!

Re: O/T Royal Wedding

They are open to the public, and bring in a tremendous amount of tourist money. I know, as I have toured Buck House and Windsor Castle. They may not be open when royalty is in residence, and you can't see the beds they slept in the night before, but the treasures contained can be seen if you stump ...

whiteswan wrote: Sun May 20, 2018 2:59 pm Hi Andy, I honestly think that the reason people come to 'gaze' at these places is because The Royal Family reside there....I doubt there would be as much interest from around the world if they were just 'buildings'.
Then why does Paris get 15.5 million visitors a year?

Re: O/T Royal Wedding

My understanding (and I write this from 4.00 miles away) is that the money the British government spend on the royal family is derived from the profits of the Crown Estate. The tourism value of the royal family is greater than what I stated earlier, apparently...... http://theconversation.com/fact-...

Re: O/T Royal Wedding

The Civil Service was still left wing and I blame Margaret Thatcher for not sorting them out. You're falling into the trap of calling it 'beating', when it was always only ever needed discipline. I was caned myself at school and I deserved it for behaving badly. It stopped me from progressing to be...

Re: O/T Royal Wedding

Figure at least 5.000 foreign tourists in town to see the parade, spending an average of 2,000 quid each. Figure also that a lot of potential tourists are lured to the UK because of all the pomp and circumstance they saw on television today. It's the best possible advertisement for London tourism. ...

Re: O/T Royal Wedding

Actually, it is someone else's fault. Parents are near banned from proper spanking and schools can't cane the kids at the same time. All sanctions have been removed by left wing 'children don't lie' idiots and kids nowadays are just as venal as ever. The problem is, they can't be punished now. Now,...

Re: O/T Royal Wedding

Andy, my wife is a primary school teacher and some of the stories she comes back with regarding kids behaviour would make your toes curl..................children of 6/7yrs old telling teachers to F Off and use of the 'C' word, not being unknown. When I was in Comprehensive in the mid/late '70s no ...

Re: O/T Royal Wedding

I teach this stuff at a university here in the US............. Thirty million is actually sort of insubstantial compared to the tourism money - direct and indirect - events like this generate. It will be a net positive for the country. Not being British it certainly isn't my place to say this, but ...

Funny thing but Harry hasn't got the Hewitt forehead - he has the Mountbatten forehead and narrow-spaced eyes. It's only the ginger hair but not the same hue, but people will think what they think. I like Her Maj - I think she's done a fantastic job of representing us over the years. I'd far rather...

Re: O/T Royal Wedding

I'd rather watch my own execution. £30 million to stage, when millions in this country go hungry. Yep, with you 100%. The fact that we still have a "Royal Family" in the 21st century is an obscenity. My wife was watching it on Sky and that stupid Kay Burly summed up what's wrong with this...

Re: Get Allardyce!!!

We reset at the start of the season. new owner, new manager/s, new players to be integrated, lost our 30 goal striker, a solid defender and captain and our left back. I was responding to Fred in that he said Cardiff did well on limited resources but how does he know we won't? I think Warnock has be...

Re: Get Allardyce!!!

How do you make the right acquisitions with little money? As if those bargains grow on trees for all visable (well, more realistic: only for us) and only needed to be plucked. But it does seem that Cardiff and other clubs have had success without investing very much money. What is it, 15 seasons we...
