Re: Retirement

I honestly wouldn't have thought 15 years ago that this is the kind of work I'd want to do, but we have a severely autistic grandson who is that bad he's in residential care which was heartbreaking to do. Once you see the work the carers do it brings it home to you. My eldest daughter works with vul...

Re: Retirement

My wife is actually a speech-language pathologist (aka speech therapist) and works with the birth - 5 yr. population. Many of the children she works with have special needs or learning differences like autism, down's syndrome, cerebral palsy, etc. It's really rewarding work. What age group are you ...

Re: Retirement

Joined the military at 16, left at 40 but rejoined 3 months later just doing security/ guard force for the MOD. Pulling the plug on that soon as I'm 56 and can't handle night shifts any more. Get a decent pension already from my service which goes up every year and will get another to add it once I ...

Re: La Celeste and their beautiful game and progress ! (Uruguay/Bielsa)

Listened to a podcast the other week with Patrick Bamford and the comedian Joe Wilkinson. PB was talking about Bielsa a lot, how he was, his coaching etc. Apparently Kalvin Philips is still in touch with Bielsa for advice etc. Funniest thing was PB said Bielsa said that Kalvin Philips is the only pl...

Re: Electricity prices (off topic)

£90 a month here for gas and electric. I tend to wear a fleece during the day when I'm at home on my own so don't have the heating on. Wife bought a dual electric blanket so we can have our respective sides of the bed on or off. I laughed and said we are now officially old but holy sh*te they an abs...

Re: Statins

A good friend of mine was in a similar situation to you Hec, bit overweight, high BP etc. The Dr prescribed statins for him as well. Being in his early 50s he didn't like the idea of a tablet every day for however long and he was convinced it was his lifestyle as he'd served in the army till mid 40s...

Jason is me, had a bad week with a few poor performances and injuries.
I like to name my teams after my favourite former Leeds players 🙂

Re: American Bulldog XL (and dangerous dogs in general)

All part of the wannabe hard man accessories, an uber aggressive dog with no training or discipline.
Most of the blame has to be with the owner. When the dog attacks someone it should be treated as assault with a deadly weapon and the owner prosecuted as such. Wont happen though

Re: Full backs

Doubt its nothing at all to do with can't be arsed to spend any money and more to do with DF prioritising who he wants, scouting them thoroughly and ensuring they fit his system and how he wants to play.

No point spending millions and getting dross, haven't we had enough of that already?

Re: Ipswich Town 3-4 Leeds United - Post Match Debate

Anybody know if DF brought his own backroom staff, coaches and all the other components of a managers entourage or is he making the best of what was left from the previous regime? Looking like an inspired manager already, liking the no nonsense approach and his man managing skills of Gnonto etc. Not...

Re: Wilfried Gnonto-Submits official transfer request

Does anybody actually think he's a £35m plus player, or is that value based on the amount other young players are being sold for? I'm not bothered one bit if he goes, his sulking and attempts at holding the club to ransom are boring and unwanted. Good on DF for making him train away from players who...

Re: Leeds Utd v West Brom Match Thread

Recorded the game and watched it when I got home after night shift, I tried reading the match thread but got bogged down wading through the usual negative bollocks that takes up half those posts. Thought it was a good performance from a team that is obviously not DFs first choice, would have preferr...

I imagine if he does play he will get absolute dogs abuse at every ground he plays at (and rightly so )

He could maybe play in the Saudi league and get no abuse at all 🤔

Re: General Chat

We visited Anglesey a week or so ago, and those lovely fellas who work within the North Wales Police have sent me notice of a speeding offence (35mph in a 30). I wrote a lovely letter back, explaining the circumstances, but, as expected, they’ve told me to p*ss off. However, they have offered me a ...
