Re: Super League

Sad to see McD go. He wasn't the problem. Poor recruitment. No replacement for Sinfield as a goal kicker was the biggest mistake but we lost several of our golden generation and there was no investment in replacements. Makes one think that all funds were syphoned off for the Headingley reconstructio...

Twiggster and Oz White

What has happened to these stalwarts? Anyone have the latest on either of them. Having seen the sad news about Jailhouse John, I'm feeling a little nostalgic. I've searched through previous posts but can't find anything about them.

Apologies if I've missed something.

Re: Jailhouse John

John was a thoroughly nice man who supported United through thick and thin. I will miss his recollections of games gone by and like him I can still remember seeing John Charles and the great Revie side. Also, like him, I have become disillusioned with the antics of the likes of Bates, GFH and Cellin...

Re: Leeds v Brentford - Team/Reports/Ratings

What really disappointed me today was the way that we didn't close Reading down. I thought the Bees were magnificent in the way that they tracked back and dominated midfield. For example as soon as Dallas got the ball, two players were on him. Some fans have said that Brentford is the best team they...

Our Youngsters

Don't get me wrong. I love to see Byram, Cook, Mowatt and Taylor in the team. However, I think we need to get a sense of proportion. We've seen the "kids" come through before. Batty, Speed, Woodgate, Kewell, Smith, Milner, Lennon. Delph. Personally I don't think that are current crop of yo...

Re: O/T The Music Discussion Thread

Not sure that my comment is appropriate but here goes. I'm on old timer but have loved chart music from the 50s - Frankie Laine, Johnnie Ray, Elvis, Buddy Holly, Everly Brothers. The 60s, pre and post the Liverpool sound. The 70s. Queen, Blondie, Dawn. The 80s. Police, Abba, Tiffany. The 90s (Gr eat...

Re: Going to see don revie's aces

Watching Leeds United, for me, began in the 50s. Seeing John Charles destroy defences aided by 2 wingers in Overfield and Williams or Meek. Most home games were bankers and the YEP used to refer to Eland Road as the Elland Roa(r). We gained promotion in 1956 and John Charles was the top scorer in th...

Re: When will Hockaday be sacked?

I don't understand this Hockaday criticism. I've endured the 'football' under Blackwell, Grayson, Warnock & McDermott and I'm sick of forking out money to watch a bunch of overpaid so called footballers who never should have been signed for our famous club. McDermott was overpaid and cost the cl...

Liverpool

I never thought I would be posting a topic about Liverpool FC. Let's face it, like Chelsea, in recent years they have played defensive football in the hope that they can score due to a defensive mistake. However, this season Liverpool have been the most attractive side to watch and personally I hope...

Re: Wigan v Leeds - Team/Reports/Ratings

Can't see us getting a win but a draw is a remote possibility. We have drawn at Leicester & QPR. For those of us who have seen the glory days, it's humiliating that we are the underdogs against Wigan.

Surely this nightmare must end

Re: Oh dear....booing at the Bescott Stadium

What surprises me is that anyone is surprised by the pre season results. No manager in the world can win things without good players. So far we have brought in two players from Div 1 and a striker (Hunt) who has a worse goal scoring record than Morison (who I am sure Mac would have liked to keep ) W...

Re: Luciano Becchio Appreciation thread

No doubt I'll be shouted down but we desperately need strikers with pace and movement. Becchio has neither of these skills. I must admit that he has improved this year but we are never going to move forward if he remains as our main striker. We have no pace or width in the team but we also lack thes...

Warnock in

Don't understand why his position is even being questioned. There are no other managers available with a better record of getting clubs promoted to the PL. Yes the football played is crap but it has been for several years under Blackwell and Grayson. Warnock has always said that he has been limited ...

Re: Leeds vs Posh

Never in my life have I been dissapointed for a player to score for leeds. Hope this doesn't mean a contract extension for paynter :( It's 'disappointed' which shows that you know as much about spelling as you know about football. Obviously you didn't attend today but Paynter was far better than Be...

Re: vs Doncaster

I really thought that the players would be up for this. A new manager in place. What an opportune time to show what you can do. Instead we had to endure a first half with not one shot on goal against a side that was bottom of the table and leaking goals. At long last Redders decided that it was time...
