The Chances are slim and looking grim... But it's all for a dream come true.
Tomorrow at 10am sharp I will be applying for two tickets with my membership for what would hopefully be the biggest giant killing of all time yet most likely it will be the chance to show our most hated rivals that we are still biting at their ankles and are just as good and are very, very loud.
The demand for tickets is massive. Initial reports of 12k allocation but 6k tops due to the Policing of the tie have been on everyone's minds. Kettering had a chance to take this all away from us with a 1-1 scoreline after 105 minutes of play. 4 goals from nowhere through some kid from New York City... Grella. 8500 Leeds fans will take the Scoreboard end on January 3rd... I want to be one of them and I'm willing to break the bank to get there.
To my knowledge, everytime we have played Manchester United whether it's in the league or cup we have always been in the same division. Slight underdogs in recent times to them but seeing Exeter and Burton play them you always wanted the Underdogs to win. You then feel that jealousy of wishing you were a real underdog for the day. This tie... there will not be another one like it ever. We hate each other and everyone knows this but the difference between us and them is that they have to win. Manchester expects... for us although we would love to win it is not that important. For the first time ever we are the underdogs. The players who are apparently not fit to lace their players boots, the players that combined dont even come close to their star players transfer value. The players that when combined their wages are the total of their star players...the players who in one game only, no matter what happens after, if succesful they could become legends.
I'm out of cash, I'm going to be overdrawn, I'm about ÂŁ3 overdrawn already and it hasn't gone out yet. I dont get paid till Tuesday, My Dad and brother doesn't get paid till Tuesday... The chances are slim of it even being accepted let alone being in the 1200 allocated for members on a first come, first serve basis. What if the internet crashes... I will keep trying... I will try all day if I have to... this for me.... is personal.
It’s personal to every Leeds United supporter in a way... sure it doesn’t matter but there’s that thought that constantly goes through the back of everyone’s mind... “what if?” and “94th minute”
For me it’s personal for a number of reasons. But talking purely football, since the summer of 2002 everything has gone wrong at Elland Road. We had all those massive debts and they laughed at us. We Sold our best players for peanuts yet having to pay some of their wages and they laughed at us. We got Relegated and they laughed at us. We had a season of consolidation and it was the famous “Leeds watch...” and they laughed at us. The Playoff final defeat at Cardiff and they laughed at us. The Relegation to League One and they laughed at us. Administration and they laughed again. -15 points and they laughed some more. Losing a playoff final and they broke down in hysterics. I remember a quote from one of their lot... “Leeds United... invented to warm the cockles of other football supporters,” “15 points, who gives a f*ck, your super Leeds and your staying put!” “Is a Doncaster Rovers fan for the day!” Millwall... and guess what... they laughed again...
Now... everyone has their own personal reasons as to why they want Leeds United to win this one game... To shut the guy at work up, to prove to someone that they shouldn’t listen to what the media says about Leeds and it could be anything... and whatever you make of it that is your own personal battle but above, they are the football reasons.
This one is personal and whilst it does not matter if we win and I hope the game goes off with minimal fuss and no violence... I hope we show them all up for what they really are... A bunch of glory supporters who follow the big teams because at the end of the day... 90% of their supporters are scared of losing! That’s why they support them...
They sing about us everyday... and everyone should know this one thing.
We are there worst nightmare! And it’s about time they had one!
Best of luck to all applying for this tomorrow at 10am... If not... I’m sure the club will be doing something in the banqueting suite but if I’m lucky or not, I want to be around Leeds fans for this one.
