Good Morning. It's Friday 7th August, and here are the latest headlines from Elland Road...

Season ticket waiting list will be open to the public from 9am this morning

With sixteen years of hurt finally behind us, Leeds fans can finally enjoy top flight football again, but number are limited! Gold Members from last season have already had a week to renew their season ticket, but today the general public can pay £10 per person to join the waiting list in order to be able to purchase a season ticket in the future, should they become available.

The season ticket waiting list has previously been open exclusively to 2019/20 Gold Members. The new 2020-21 Premier League season will begin over the weekend of September 12.

Bielsa planning £20m swoop for Stuttgart striker Nicolas Gonzalez.

The Mirror are reporting (so it must be true) that Argentine international Nicolas Gonzalez could be on his way to Elland Road. The 22 year old forward is rated as one of the hottest young talents around having netted 14 goals in 27 appearance for Stuttgart, helping them gain automatic promotion back to the Bundesliga last term.

Stuttgart signed Gonzalez from Argentinos Jrs in the Summer of 2018 for 7.65m, but will be looking to make a healthy profit knowing Borussia Dortmund, Inter, AC Milan, Roma, Lazio and Napoli, are all monitoring the situation. The lure of working with Bielsa in the Premier League has made Leeds the favourites to snap him up. The 65yo has been tracking Gonzalez since January!

Drameh wanting ER switch

Fulham's highly rated teenage defender Cody Drameh is the latest young talent to be linked to a move to Elland Road. The Whites have been tracking the 18 year old for a number of years and is very much on their hit list this Summer. The right-back, in the last year of his contract, is wanting a moving to Elland Road according to Sky Sports reporter Kaveh Solhekol. Drameh is reportedly valued at around £400,000 but the Telegraph report that the Cottagers would want a sell-on clause in the deal.

The Whites have already landed 16 year old attacking midfielder Charlie Allen from Linfield, and are confident that Wigan Athletic's 18-year-old forward Joe Gelhardt will follow early next week. If they can land Drameh as well, then the future is bright for the Leeds Utd academy!

White is contracted to Brighton until 2022 (rumour has it they have an option to extend this to 2023). Let’s say he’s on £10k p/w on his current contract. Brighton decide to offer him a new 5 year contract for £25-30k p/w to tempt him to stay.

Now let’s say White digs his heels in and says he wants to move to Leeds. Brighton refuse and tell him he is under contract and must stay. So his choice now is to stay at Brighton on £10k p/w for the next 2-3 years or give in and sign his new contract for £25-30k. The most he would do in that situation is sulk on the bench for a few weeks and then decide to sign his contract anyway - he might as well agree for a pay rise if he is being made to stay anyway.

Of course players have some element of power these days, but if Brighton don’t want to sell, they won’t. I’m sure White would get over the fact that he isn’t coming to Leeds and concentrate on getting into the first team at Brighton on his shiny new contract.

Having said that, White would be my #1 target this summer for sure. I just think it’s worth being realistic about the fact that it is unlikely to happen (as things stand)
The trouble for Brighton with that scenario is that if they keep him and even got him to sign an improved contract they still have to play him or his value simply goes down, and they are paying him more. If he sits on their bench for a season his value will go down pretty quickly as his development would stagnate. In that scenario he would probably be worth only £5m in a year's time and they'd have probably paid him an extra £1m in increased wages. White needs first team football and if Brighton can't give him that then they really have to sell or loan him out again - but who would they loan him too as he'd want to be loaned to a premiership club and be guaranteed a first team starting position and not many clubs, apart from us, would be able to offer him that.

Similarly a bidding war could be irrelevant if White had his heart set on coming back. Liverpool or City could offer £5m more but if White says he doesn't want to go there to sit on their bench then it basically comes down to Brighton having little bargaining power.

I'd imagine we'd get Augustin on his current contract rather than need him to sign a new one if it's decided we own JKA, must pay for him and he won't sign a new contract. What happens after that is anyone's guess. We could agree a release so we at least wouldn't pay his wages but we're down 21M Euro, we could sell him on at a massive loss maybe recouping a quarter of our outlay at best considering he's been a bust at three consecutive clubs now.

Another outcome could be to come to an arrangement with all three parties, Leipzig paid 17M Euros, recuperated maybe 2-3 on the loan, had him for a while so maybe 10M euros could see Leipzig save face, halve our obligation and Leipzig would have had their monies worth.

He will probably either remain a Leipzig player on a technicality or he'll sit in our reserves probably training on his own for 2 more years. I think the former the most likely.

Not sure where we stand with JKA. Yes we are contracted to buy him, but what if we do not agree terms? what if JKA does not want to sign.....he surely cannot be made to sign.....so if he refuses to sign we surely do not have to pay his transfer fee.

I would pay 30 mil for Ben white, as long as he stays on form he'll repay that value 3 times over just for his skills and performances.

If Leeds ever find themselves in a position to have to sell White, then he'll probably be snapped up by one of the other big clubs for a fee higher than 30 mil.

There are others who see your point of view though, I noticed what you said is on another forum site, fairly close to word for word.
We need a striker and CB absolute minimum, we might not be able to get out of the Augustin signing but Bielsa has made it clear he no longer wants him. If we had £100m to spend I’d agree with you but Bielsa (or Orta) have been told they have around £40-£50m to spend. This figure excludes the money we paid to secure Meslier and Costa.

If we blow £30m on a defender then we are left short on funds. We also need to accept Pablo can’t play every game, our squad is paper thin, you can only loan one PL player and we’ve got Harrison on loan, I don’t believe we will survive the PL without 3-4 very good signings

Richard wrote: Sat Aug 08, 2020 5:06 pm Yes noticed but it’s irrelevant, it’s pointing out he is contracted to Brighton for two more years either way. Someone else has mentioned Brighton have an option for a third year. It’s just standard procedure, you can’t value someone at £30m and give them around £5k a week. Offer them improved terms they say no so you leave them on £5k a week knowing they already signed a new contract just 12 months ago. You slap a £30m price tag on them knowing they’re not first choice and you cash in. I’m just hoping we don’t splash out the £30m as it’s too much
