It seems like only last week since the season ended but now the first signs of the new season are emerging with the release of next seasons Championship fixtures. With a tough opening fixture at home against Burnley who knows how Leeds will get on in the 2014-2015 season. We are currently 9/1 in the football tips to gain promotion to the English Premier League. But first up before the season proper begins there are the traditional pre-season training and friendlies.
They squad embark on a pre-season tour in Austria starting on the 18th July, as part of a week long training camp they will play a friendly against Eintracht Frankfurt on Saturday 25th July. The game will take place at the Untersberg Arena in Grödig, Salzburg. Leeds has been scheduled to play Athletic Bilbao but due to their commitments in the Europa League qualifiers they were unable to fulfil the fixture. Leeds will then head to Norway to play TSG 1899 Hoffenheim on Saturday Saturday 25th July at the Arasen Stadion in Lillestrom. Eintracht Frankfurt finished 9th in the Bundesliga whilst Hoffenheim finished 8th.
The final pre-season game will be against Everton at Elland Road on Saturday 1st August, the weekend before the Championship season starts. The two teams have only faced each other once since our relegation from the Premier League, back in 2012 when we lost 2-1 in the Capital Cup. Leeds will also play two local friendlies against Harrogate Town on Friday 10th July at the CNG Stadium and York City on Wednesday 15th July at Bootham Crescent. The under-21s will also face Pickering Town in a friendly at Mill Lane on Tuesday 21st July.
The Championship season will start at Elland Road on Saturday 8th August at 3.00pm when we play Burnley. Sean Dyche’s side will be keen to start the season off well after relegation from the Premier League and it will be a tough opening fixture for Leeds. Next up is Doncaster Rovers at the Keepmoat Stadium in the first round of the Capital One Cup. The game will be played on Thursday 13th August and will be broadcast live on Sky Sports. For the first away game of the season Leeds head south to Reading on Sunday 16th August, this game has been moved from the Saturday due to Leeds mid-week cup fixture.
