Loan Deadline Day Deals

It was only yesterday that news that the deal for the acquisition of Leeds United had finally been completed broke but new owners GFH Capital had to move quick with the emergency loan window closing at 5PM today. New board member David Haigh had already stated that a cash injection had been put into the club yesterday and so all eyes were on Neil Warnock today to see what deals could be done.

The first confirmed signing was that of defender Alan Tate from Swansea City. The defender has made few appearances for Swansea this season and is keen to get games under his belt. "I don't want to watch games, even if it is the Premier League, I want to play games and I have to think about my future. Watching isn't what I'm about so to come somewhere like this and play games who knows what will happen?". Tate trained with Leeds all Thursday and Neil Warnock confirmed he will walk straight into the squad to face Crystal Palace at Elland Road on Saturday.

The second player to put pen to paper was midfielder Jerome Thomas from West Bromwich Albion. Thomas played for Arsenal as a youth player where he won the FA Youth Cup twice but never broke into the first team. He has since played for QPR, Portsmouth, Charlton and West Brom. Primarily a left winger he can also play central midfield. Neil Warnock said that Thomas had been a long-term target of his. "He's a player I've tried to sign five times so it's about time I finally got him. He is just what I'm looking for and I want him to come here and enjoy himself.”

Both players have initially signed until January and will both go straight into the squad for Saturday. Let’s hope that following the completion of the takeover this is only the start of things to come. Who knows, January might be a happy and exciting time for Leeds fans this season.
