White Rose Tinted Glasses: Takeovers & Leeds United

Friends, Romans, Leeds fans, lend me your ears. Is this the week? The week when we finally get taken over by some mega rich Billionaire with a view to push Leeds United back to where they truly belong? A lot of people have been praying for a long long time for this and now with it being apparently so close, excitement levels going through the roof all over the city can be clearly seen. With social networking sites going in to overdrive over recent weeks with every man and his whippet claiming to know something or someone about our future owners it has been difficult not to look forward with a new found confidence and even a smile.

I don't know of many who support what Ken Bates has done over the years at Elland Road and as Leeds fans are we going to be in line for something of a culture shock in the new season. "Bates Out" has become a regular chant on the terraces as it has been the focal point of many discussions on Twitter & Facebook, but I have to ask...what will we sing and talk about moving forward? I'd like to think we can get back some of the player/fan bonding back like in the David O'Leary days when the name of each player in the starting 11 was sung with pride and passion before kick off and applauded by the team. It certainly makes for a better, more vibrant atmosphere at LS11....and maybe that's just what we need to push the lads to promotion glory.

Not wanting to end on a downer but isn't it just our luck that, thanks to the FFP rules, we are finally destined to be free of the poison laced Bates shackles and be brought swiftly in to the 21st Century with a new wealthy Middle Eastern based owner and we can't spend hardly any money.....unless a lucrative sponsorship deal for the Lurpak stand is agreed?!
